Intro to Spearfishing

2 hour theory, 2 hours in ocean ( 4 hours total ) - for beginners

A class for 1st timers to the world of freediving/spearfishing. We'll start with freediving safety & basics then learn about the different fish, paua (NZ abalone), crabs, and crayfish (NZ lobster) we may encounter. After a breath-hold technique class & hands-on tutorial about speargun safety & technique, we'll walk across the beach where I'll guide you to my secret dive spots. Now it's your turn to have a go at spearfishing!

Prep & Cook Fresh Seafood

1.5 hour class - for anyone

Lets learn how to break down fresh seafood. From Paua (NZ abalone) to Crayfish to various species of New Zealand fish. I teach a nose-to-tail approach of cooking so nothing goes to waste. We start with freshly caught New Zealand seafood & learn the Japanese, Chinese, & New Zealand methods of food preparation & cooking. This class is very hands on and ends with a free tasting menu.

Welcome to Wellington! This tour is intended for visitors who are unfamiliar with diving & spearing the local waters. You are an intermediate to advanced spearo & want to know where to go to catch some fish in clear & safe waters. We’ll cover advanced spearfishing techniques to target the local fish & I’ll take you to my local honey pot spots.
